Stress. Burnout. Challenges. Overwhelm. Suffering from any of this? Mindfulness for children and adults offers simple strategies to use your mind to change your brain. The result? More balance, health, and well-being.

Participants explore what mindfulness means for adults and children, identify common teaching strategies that promote mindfulness, the brain benefits of such strategies, and the difference between mindfulness and mindlessness as it applies to learning and development.

At the same time, Laura dispels the myth that mindfulness is a religious practice or “just meditation.” On the contrary, Laura quotes the research that suggests mindfulness promotes school readiness for preschoolers and school success for children of all ages. On top of this, the outcomes for adults show promising changes in mood, motivation, and coping in general.

In Mindfulness for children and adults, participants experience what it feels like to be mindful and discover how learning may actually impede both the child and the adult’s ability to attend to what “is” with openness and receptivity.  Don’t despair: the answer to this dilemma is NOT to stop learning!

This training includes theory, practical strategies and experiential learning. It may be adapted for educators serving children ages pre-K through high school.
