When considering the role of mindfulness in mental health, it’s helpful to start with a definition. Mindfulness can be defined as being open and receptive to what “is” with non-judgement, loving-kindness, and compassion. For yourself. And others.

How does mindfulness promote mental health? This training will show you!

Mindfulness and Mental Health: the series

This training series has three parts:  1) Introduction to Mindfulness 2)  Implementing Mindfulness 3) The Mindful Clinician

This series is iterative, designed for mental health professionals working with children, teachers, and families to include mindfulness practices in their work. It may be done in three parts, or combined into one training with less depth of content

    • In training one participants will:

        • Explore the triangle of well-being from an interpersonal neurobiology perspective as the foundation for mindfulness

        • Learn a working definition of mindfulness and contrast this with mindlessness

        • Debunk some of the misunderstandings/myths of mindfulness

    • In training two participants will:

        • Reflect upon some of the brain reasons for behavior and how mindfulness may address those behaviors

        • Learn an approach to teaching mindfulness to others

        • Formulate a working knowledge of the brain benefits of mindfulness

    • In training three participants will:
        • Integrate the knowledge of trainings one and two, going deeper with the concepts to create a framework for implementing mindfulness
        • Explore what it means to be a mindful clinician
        • Plan for ways to implement mindfulness into their work
